Persian Raisins: A Taste of Iran’s Rich Heritage
Persian raisins, cultivated in the fertile regions of Iran, are known for their natural sweetness, unique flavor, and high quality.
Grown in sunlit vineyards across areas like Malayer, Kashmar, and Tabriz, these raisins come in various types,
including golden, green, and dark, each with distinct flavors and textures. Iran’s ideal climate and traditional drying methods produce raisins
that are highly valued in international markets. Persian raisins are a versatile and healthy snack, rich in nutrients, and a popular
ingredient in a variety of culinary traditions worldwide.
golden raisin
Golden raisins, often called sultanas, are a popular dried fruit made from green seedless grapes, typically the Thompson Seedless variety.
Unlike regular raisins, which are sun-dried and turn a deep brown color, golden raisins are treated with sulfur dioxide and dried in controlled conditions,
giving them their signature golden-yellow hue. They’re known for their softer texture, mild sweetness, and tangy undertones,
which make them a favorite in both savory and sweet recipes.
sultana raisin
Sultana raisins are a type of dried grape that is made from green grapes, specifically the Thompson Seedless variety. The term “sultana” refers to
the method of drying and processing the grapes, which involves soaking them in a solution of water and sometimes a small amount of potassium carbonate
or sulfur dioxide to help preserve their color and sweetness.
Red Raisins
Red Raisins, naturally sweet with a hint of tartness, Red Raisins are made from red grape varieties that give them their distinctive deep red to purplish color.
These medium-sized, slightly wrinkled raisins are sun-dried, preserving a robust flavor and chewy texture. Red Raisins are rich in antioxidants, fiber, and essential nutrients,
making them a nutritious and versatile choice for snacking, baking, or adding to salads and cereals.
Black Raisin
Maviz (also spelled “Maviz” or “Maveez”) refers to a type of dried black raisin commonly found and used in Persian and Middle Eastern cuisines. The term “Maviz” is derived from Persian and refers specifically to dark, sun-dried raisins that are larger and plumper than regular black raisins.
